Character concepts for my fighting game

I'm about 3 months deep in a project I've been working on on-and-off. It is a fighting game based off elements and i'm currently working on integrating movesets. I'd appreciate help in filling out the roster as well as ideas for what each fighter's attacks are.

these are the current elements I have:

  • Fire
  • Water
  • Air
  • Ground
  • Electricity
  • Ice
  • Life
  • Insects (not sure if this one will stay in)
  • Poison
  • Good
  • Evil
  • Time
  • The element of surprise

any help would be nice and while elements are heavily preferred, I'm open to ideas

this is cool i can work on it from time to time i code and i can do basic pixel art

I'm good at pixel art, I can help you with modeling and I can help with programming

Thank you for the offer, but I intend to complete this alone. I'm making this game to help learn how to better code, draw pixel art, and try to finally finish a game. I mostly just want help brainstorming concepts.

There's also the fact that I'm too far in and suck at making sure everything is readable for someone other than me.

Looking forward to the finished game when your done. A few ideas I had about something I was going to do a couple of years back based on elemental stuff but scrapped it (got side tracked).

What about having elemental hierarchies? Where you have base elements and more complex ones that are made from the combination of these. A bit like how primary colours can be mixed to make secondary colours and these further mixed to make tertiary colours. This way you would have some kind of consistency with regards to how your game elemental law, philosophy and logic operatives. Even give directions on how to create your in game research tree if you decide to have one.

What about the cultures of these elements, so fire people would have their distinct clothing, weaponry, marshal arts and even landmarks, country and flags, so on different for each of the other element people.

Artistic elemental motifs? These would be simple shapes that dictate the look and feel of each elemental people. From their architecture, food, furniture, weapon designs, marshal art postures and all sorts of elementally cultural significant stuff. I suppose these would form part of the art direction that would provide guidance on which way to go if you decide to create new assets for your game. So a flame shape might be the basic inspiration for all things fire element, so on for the others. Most of this stuff is more likely to be behind the scenes stuff that helps you flesh out the essence of each elemental culture not directly appear in the game itself. Stuff that only you will know.
