Have you guys realize the power of coding? Why is it so hated?
Coding is such a underrated skill and so useful but everyone thinks of it us nerdy and for dorks.
Guys I do not understand we live in a world where the world is in code but no one sees that?
I am so lost right now and it makes me so mad that people make fun of me because I learn coding languages all the time.
Guys I need a answer if this is right I know this is true right?
Because people have no brains these days, people literally cannot solve 12x11 which makes me sad. It got to the point where the next generations are dropping the average iq scores, ouch.
Your answer: your right it is very overrated and should be more of a thing but no one wants to be a "nerd" which is dumb.
I don't share your opinion about the decline in young people's IQs, Kira1. But above all, yes, if some people think programming is outdated, it's because they don't see its usefulness. I think they're simply unaware of its role in our modern civilization. In any case, everyone is entitled to their opinion, and I won't impose mine on anyone.
Okay yeah your right that was mean but still true, but CodeGod is right people think of it as nerdy and dumb but it powers EVERYTHING
It is amazing people could be so unaware of the importance of computers and consumer electronics in general, as they use them everyday. Perhaps they know, but just take it for granted; many things are taken for granted these days! We can't fix, even if we wanted to, most of the things we rely on. It's been that way for a while.
Behind this I believe is a fear, a fear that understanding the modern world is beyond the comprehension of most people. So they don't even want to think about it. When someone sees a coder or math nerd they have to turn away. The other option is not available.
Of course this is just my take. Learning to code, knowing how computers work inside is wonderful and does gain one an appreciation of all the time put by others to get where we are. Just like you are doing now. We are creating the future at this very moment. (((:->)))
I have realized the power of coding. It's incredibly useful, and in a bunch of cases I could probably write better tools for free than what my company is current using (they are VERY bad, and/or far too bulky).
But Kira isn't entirely wrong about the IQ thing. I will leave out generation Beta for now, but post Gen Z, they are dropping in IQ because they are addicted to the phone and short form content. And generation beta is worse than alpha so far, so yea, it might not end up well.
Regardless, mrderry isn't wrong either. I am kinda glad, I can fix most technical issues without a problem (I work in the IT Sector as Support, and sometimes do help out in my free time, so I know a LOT about pcs, and their common issues etc). But at the same time, I feel like a nerd again.
Coding is powerful, and if you know any of the three legendary C languages (C, C++, C#), you can pretty much not be stopped. But since most stuff is now web based it has lost it's strengths.

I am not surprised. IQ tests were designed to measure a persons mental age compared to chronological, so they do apply to those coming out of school. I would expect a drop because students don't have to think as hard or know as much to get through primary education now.
As you point out, post Z has been using the phone and tiktok and such to stay amused which doesn't require much thinking. If a person doesn't practice deep thinking, they can't learn how. For me, deep thinking is the pivotal point. Programming graphic games requires visualization, that's deep thinking.
I agree with this argument, coding is such an underrated skill to have but no one takes it seriously, they almost think of it as nothing but zeroes and ones...
And yes I guess the generations Z and after authentically getting dumber from phones and addiction, they're not going to use their brains anymore they're just going to use it for literally everything these days.
It's just some people won't use their freaking critical thinking and their complex brain.
So codegode it is probably just because people have opinions of the idea of coding, but otherwise it just makes no sense.
BTW i have a language poll up, respond for fun if you want. The choices are rather limited :( And you can't scroll the comment reporting.
A comment says I should have SQL. Well yes, but it's not a programming language per say.

I agree, people should really take stuff like coding more seriously. That goes for all creative fields: digital art, traditional art, sound design, music, ect.
I just think people don't realize that without "nerd" hobbies, no new games or anything indie would be made.

Watching early results I saw Python take the lead immediately and stay ahead of microScript, the second runner up. Early responders Boo'd the procedural languages, Lua, Basic. Over time numbers balanced.
There seems to be some relationship between period of the day responding and kind of language preferred. But then your place on earth affects that, too. But clearly, poll-takers prefer Python; the winner.
